The Court of Ivies

Every age leaves behind its mysteries.Ruins swallowed by time. Relics whose purpose has been forgotten. Magicks erased from memory. Questions no one still living can answer. The Court of Ivies was founded upon a single belief: that ignorance is a greater danger than knowledge itself. Its members venture where others will not, unearthing what history has discarded, studying what reason cannot explain, and confronting powers most would sooner leave undisturbed. Some doors remain closed for a reason. The Court has never found that reason sufficient.

Who we are

We are seekers of truths others fear to name.We believe that knowledge is neither holy nor profane. It is only understood—or left to fester in ignorance.Where others avert their gaze, we look closer. Where others seal away the unknown, we ask why. We do not fear darkness, for darkness is merely that which has yet to be illuminated.Yet power without wisdom is ruin.We do not pursue the forbidden for indulgence or ambition, but because someone must understand it. Every relic recovered, every mystery unraveled, every dangerous art studied is another step toward ensuring such knowledge serves the realm rather than consumes it.

We seek.We discern.We forge.The Court presides.

Core Beliefs:

Knowledge before judgment - Seek to understand before deciding what ought to be done.-No discovery belongs to one hand alone - Significant findings are reviewed by multiple members, not hoarded by individuals.-Power demands stewardship - Dangerous knowledge is neither ignored nor exploited without deliberation.-Leave the world richer than you found it - Expeditions should preserve history where possible, not strip ruins bare for trophies.-The Court serves truth, not thrones - No nation, church, or patron dictates what may be investigated.

What we offer

Rather than simply collecting practitioners of the occult, the Court of Ivies exists to gather those willing to venture where others will not.Whether your interests lie in forgotten civilizations, arcane theory, dangerous relics, esoteric magicks, experimental alchemy, or impossible phenomena, the Court offers both the means and the community to pursue them. Here, discovery is encouraged, scholarship is shared, and every contribution strengthens the whole. Our members are explorers, scholars, artificers, archivists, mages, and craftsmen united by a single belief:No knowledge is beyond understanding.

The Court provides resources, mentorship, expeditions, laboratories, workshops, archives, and opportunities unavailable elsewhere. More importantly, it offers a place among those who share your curiosity—and understand the burdens that often accompany it.

Upon completing their trials, an Acolyte is welcomed as a full member of the Court and entrusted with the responsibilities, privileges, and freedoms that accompany it.

Membership

"To seek. To discern. To forge."Those who wish to dedicate themselves to the Court may petition for membership.New initiates enter as Acolytes, apprenticed beneath experienced members while discovering where their own talents best serve the Court. Through study, fieldwork, and the Trials of the Ivy Labyrinth, they prove not only their capability, but their judgment.Membership is earned—not simply through power, but through understanding.

Commissioned Service

Not every ally of the Court wears its mantle. Many of our expeditions and research efforts rely upon capable individuals whose expertise lies beyond the occult. Adventurers, artisans, hunters, guards, gatherers, logisticians, healers, and specialists of every discipline regularly work alongside the Court in pursuit of shared goals.Commissioned personnel are compensated for their service and may, where appropriate, negotiate rights to discoveries, recovered materials, or crafted works according to the nature of each commission.

Some remain valued associates for years.Others discover that the Court has become a calling.

Your place awaits...

Whether you seek forgotten truths, wish to master your craft, or simply desire to stand beside those who refuse to let the unknown remain unknown...The Court's doors stand open.

OOC Info

- We are a RP community that favors dark and mature themes, as such, any participants must be 18+- As we move in forbidden circles, it is very possible that characters will be at odds with one another. Keep it IN-CHARACTER. We are here to write stories and have fun.- We engage in both combat and non-combat style DMed events. Encounters that include combat utilize a custom system focused on choices and RP rather than sheer numbers i.e. DnD. Character growth comes as a result of RP as opposed to collected experience points.- We have a FC house on Mateus (The Esoteric) or on Coeurl (The Court). Joining the FC is not required, but available if you would like a room. The Court itself is located in Ishgard and is where their power and influence is based.- Primary times of activity are evenings EST. DM'd events are hosted on weekends.

- If you find that the Court doesn't quite fit for your character, but you are interested in affiliating yourself or your group, don't hesitate to reach out! There are always opportunities to make other connections.

The Seekers

In the midst of ground breaking innovation from Artificers and the arcane mastery of the Cultivators, the Seekers must stand at the tip of the spear of discovery to claim what was once lost or what others may deny the Court. They are Relic Hunters, Archeologists, and hunters of the arcane dispatched to secure, collect, and contain the needs of the whole from wherever it may be.

Purpose: Seekers serve a multi-faceted role within the Court working towards the collection of artifacts, resources, or even to secure a site for or alongside the Artificers and Cultivators for projects they are seeking accomplished. Their skills vary widely from those who dwell in the shadows, frontline combatants, and even trained mages who all serve the same purpose of securing what must be claimed for the good of the Court.

Types of Missions: Seekers can expect to find themselves helping fulfill a variety of different jobs. From scouting a location suitable for a ritual, the securing of a site from adversaries, delving in to ancient booby trapped ruins, to even the potential capture of a subject for study. However, regardless the job, they stand at the friction point of success. Seekers will find themselves in a variety of different situations requiring them to rely on each other's skillsets and that of their comrades in the Artificers or Cultivators should they be present.

Skillsets: With jobs being so broad, Seekers will find themselves side by side a diverse cast of skills amongst themselves. While each Seeker is expected to be capable in the realm of the arcane, they also bring to the table prowess beyond such whether it be their skills in combat, stealth, discovery, tracking, or even classically trained or specialized magics.

Culture: Seekers are inherently thrill seekers. The dangers associated with their work brings together a close-knit group who are there to willingly put themselves in to the unknown and light the path forwards for discovery. Seekers are expected to come together and know intimately one another, work in unison to accomplish their jobs, and shamelessly reach out to the Artificers and Cultivators for their expertise or even aid.

The Cultivators

"Discovery is penned only by the hand brave enough to reach for it."Such is one of the mottos that encapsulates the core values of the Cultivators: Discovery, Preservation, Collaboration, and Temperance. Those with exceptional thirst for discovery can find themselves at home with like-minded individuals within the ranks of The Cultivators.

The Cultivators is home to all for those of arcane inclination- whether it manifests as any one of the many schools of spell casting, spell crafting, alchemy, rune weaving, researching, or the most astute archivists, all will find welcome within the Cultivator’s Studium, a sanctum crafted and curated by Lady Adrienne Morellenoir- the lead of this division. While mysterious and known to be strict, the diminutive lead of the division is not impersonal- just one that knows all too well the risks of arcane power gone un-checked. If there is anything she encourages more within her ranks than discovery, it is control and collaborative cooperation within the ranks of The Cultivators and the other divisions of the Court of Ivies... for all practitioners of the arcane.

Made by the Forbidden for the Dark of Arts and Origin, those whose research or creation are outside societal acceptance can find sanctuary within the Cultivators free of persecution should they also adhere and heed the very same oaths and creeds of the Court of Ivies as their lawful counterparts.Among the Cultivators, curiosity is not permissed but encouraged, and the patient, preserving hand of the practitioner is revered. So long as there is a hunger for knowledge, a passion for preservation, and an eye for articulate archiving, one would find them most welcome within the ranks of the Cultivators.

The Artificers

The culmination of the Court's pursuits.Of the Court's three divisions, the Artificers transform discovery into reality. Drawing upon relics recovered by the Seekers and the research compiled by the Cultivators, they refine, reconstruct, and innovate—breathing new purpose into forgotten knowledge and ensuring no worthwhile discovery remains confined to the archives.Led by the enigmatic Shas'shil Onfrai, the division oversees the Court's laboratories, workshops, and infrastructure while directing countless projects across every discipline. Ancient methodologies are studied not out of reverence, but to understand the principles that made them possible. From there, Artificers improve, adapt, and reinvent, marrying lost techniques with modern craftsmanship and arcane theory to produce tools, equipment, enchantments, and artifacts that would otherwise be impossible.Whether reverse engineering relics from forgotten civilizations, restoring damaged creations, replicating esoteric artificing techniques, or pioneering entirely new applications of magitek and sorcery, the Artificers stand at the forefront of innovation. Their work encompasses everything from enchanted weaponry and protective wards to alchemical apparatus, autonomous constructs, arcane infrastructure, and experimental technologies whose uses have yet to be imagined.

Beyond their own research, Artificers regularly accept commissions from fellow Court members and trusted associates alike, tackling challenges that conventional methods cannot solve. No problem is too unusual, no mechanism too complex, and no mystery too intricate to warrant investigation. For where the Seekers uncover possibility, and the Cultivators uncover understanding, the Artificers ensure that knowledge leaves the page—and changes the world.

Hooks

"If you discover something the world forgot, chances are the Court already knows about it."

- Rumors speak of an elusive organization that seeks out relics, forgotten ruins, and magical phenomena before anyone else can lay claim to them. Some say they preserve dangerous knowledge. Others insist they actively use it.- The Court of Ivies has earned a quiet reputation among scholars, adventurers, treasure hunters, and collectors for acquiring artifacts and tomes thought lost, hidden, or intentionally buried by history.- Practitioners of obscure or proscribed magicks occasionally whisper of the Court as one of the few places where such knowledge is studied rather than immediately condemned—provided it is approached with discipline and purpose.- More than one expedition has returned claiming a rival party reached the ruins first, leaving little behind save an ivy crest and an unsettling feeling that someone had already found exactly what they were looking for.

- Certain artificers and alchemists speak of impossible commissions originating from anonymous patrons: relics to restore, devices to recreate, enchantments to refine, or mechanisms no one else is willing—or able—to construct.- In academic circles, opinions on the Court are sharply divided. Some dismiss it as a myth. Others quietly accuse it of possessing research that should never have left the archives.- It is said that when an anomaly appears—an impossible relic, an unstable voidgate, an ancient ward awakening, or whispers of forgotten magic—the Court somehow learns of it before anyone else.

The Ivy Labyrinth

Address: Coeurl - Empyreum - W5 - P26

(new images pending! we snagged a medium :D )

A place only ever whispered of, the Labyrinth is where the Court of Ivies welcomes their guests and friends for nights of entertainment and exchanges. Drink, other substances, and magic flow in excess here, and the specially-tailored stage promises opportunity for spectacles, be they performative or combative.

The building itself appears as little more than a nondescript manor nestled away in Ishgard, but the sleek lobby which awaits upon entry is the first clue that this isn't some quaint residence. An attendant loiters behind the counter, offering polite greetings to any who enter, but answering few questions. To the uninformed, this place was a secondary residence of an Ishgardian noble family. For those who utter the pass phrase, "The Court presides," the way is opened to the sanctum below.Upon passing the curtain of ivy vines, the tingle of aether becomes palpable, and sounds of activity become audible. Thrumming music, chatter, and perhaps even the symphony of combat. This is not a dive bar, nor is it a high-class lounge. It is something in-between, a place in which those of the more occult persuasion can relax and act freely, all under the watchful gaze of the Court.

OOC Info

Thanks for making it this far!- The Labyrinth is a pop-up venue without specific operating hours. As such, it is best to join the Discord to recieve pings for whenever RP is happening in the venue. Due to this, if there are no dedicated bartenders or waitstaff, such is assumed to be covered by NPCs.- IC actions have IC consequences! While not the classiest of lounges, the Matron is not one to tolerate utter chaos and altercations which risk the safety of other patrons and staff. The Labyrinth is the Court's domain, and it is understood that the members present will enforce order and levvy reprimands where appropriate, should altercations not be resolved within the warded space provided.- Gil is RP-only, but we will always accept tips! These funds go to pay our helpers.- Due to mature themes, players and their characters are required to be 18+
